Improving economic cooperation with Japan imperative

Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Nobuo Kishi assessed at today’s meeting that traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries should be promoted through the continuation of intensive political dialogue.

At the meeting it was pointed out that Japan supports Serbia’s European path and solving the problems in Kosovo through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Dacic said that it is necessary to improve economic cooperation and invited the Japanese business delegation to visit Serbia and see the benefits of investing in the Serbian economy.

The officials stressed that Japanese companies are interested in investing in the energy sector, noting that since 1999 the Japanese grants and loans amounted to more than €460 million.

They pointed out that trade between Serbia and Japan in the past and this year recorded a gradual increase, and that Japanese companies are interested in import of healthy food from Serbia.

The Prime Minister invited representatives of the Japanese imperial family to visit Serbia.
